Roadies-7 is Missing the Bad-Baldy Raghu

MTV’s flagship show, Roadies has stormed into its 7th phase, “African Safari: The Seven Deadly Sins”. But this year is different from the others. Raghu, the father of this show, and also the executive producer, co-host and mentor is not aboard. Though everything is tried to be kept same, but Roadies, and its huge fan following is badly missing that Bad-Baldy.

Raghu, a DU drop out, conceptualize the format of this show. Though it is said that it is inspired form “Survivor” but embedding a road trip into it was a masterstroke. Raghu used to be one of the selectors for this series, and everyone knows, that the selection procedure was one of the toughest as well as the best part of this show. He revolutionized the definition of “Stress Interview”. The man, who is so foul mouthed that his alphabets starts with capital F, shouts, throws things, insults people so much that they cry on screen, is being missed a lot. Though he is still remains senior supervising producer at MTV India and the executive producer of the show MTV Roadies, but he doesn’t show up on the show anymore.

Roadies is aired very Sunday, but the twist and turns, and in-your-face attitude is not there. Though Ranvijay still hosts the show, but it is more of a normal reality show now. In fact they have brought “Rides with Ranvijay” this year, in which the physical strength of the contestants is checked, before they can be crowned as a Roadie, but if you have seen any of the seasons, then you will tell within minutes that it has lost the kick. In absence of Raghu, Nikhil, Cyrus1 & Cyrus2 were taking the interview, and let me tell you, it stood no where in front of Raghu’s charm.

Roadies is a huge hit among the youngster of India, and being a Roadie is like winning a Medal of Honor for them. Right now, Raghu’s another project “The Player” is aired on Channel V.
